Welcome

Thanks for stopping by!

I invite you to explore my world of writing through the pages of this website.

You’ll find information about me and my scheduled activities by clicking on “About the Author” in the navigation toolbar at the top of the page.

Wander over to “The Books” page to get a snapshot of my published works. Find out what readers say about my first novel, Once upon a Mulberry Field, an award-winning story of love, loss, and redemption during the Vietnam War and a project close to my heart that took six years to complete; my travelogue, Rain Falling on Tamarind Trees, a journal of my 2016 visit to my ancestral homeland and a former Amazon #1 New Release in Vietnam Travel Guides; and my 2020 publication, In the Shadow of Green Bamboos, an award-winning collection of remarkable tales of love and hope, resilience and survival, from the Vietnam War.

My latest project is a memoir titled Land of Dreams: An Immigrant’s Journey from War-Torn Vietnam to America. It is being published by the University of Tennessee Press and is scheduled for release on June 9, 2026, just in time for the 250th birthday of the nation.

Read a sample chapter from each of these books on the “Excerpts” page, and while you’re there, check out some of my other writings—poems and/or short stories.

Then come join me on my “Blog” page. I’ll be sharing with you my memories of Vietnam and Saigon where I grew up during the war, as well as my hard-learned lessons about writing and publishing and the excitement on that incredible journey. Join the dialog. I’ll be delighted to receive your feedback and input. Let’s all have fun sharing and learning from each other.

Before you leave, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog and to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media venues for future news and announcements. You can also leave me a message on my “Contact” page. Now go explore!
